"Hope does not disappoint"
Pope Francis has declared that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee (a Holy Year) for the Church, which happens every 25 years.
But what does that mean?
In the Catholic Church, a Jubilee or Holy Year is a special year of forgiveness and reconciliation, in which all generations have the chance to experience a special time of grace and mercy. This special holy time happens once every 25 years and this Jubilee Year runs from 24 December 2024 until 6 January 2026.
The Jubilee Year 2025 was announced on a special document called the Bull of Indiction. The Bull is entitled "Spes non confundit" meaning
“Hope does not disappoint”.
The Papal Bull encourages us to look for signs of hope around us, and to work for peace and justice among people and in our world.
Bishop Marcus (Bishop of Leeds) has designated 10 Jubilee Pilgrimage Churches across the Diocese of Leeds. At these Churches, various events will happen throughout the year.
The Churches are:

“For all of us, may the Jubilee of 2025 be a truly Holy Year when we renew and strengthen our faith and trust in Almighty God, be an occasion for us to seek healing and reconciliation, and a pilgrimage of hope”.
