AI, Ethics, and the Eternal City
17 - 20 March 2027 (Wednesday - Saturday)
LTU students are invited to join us on this once in a lifetime trip to Rome! Your 3-night stay in the Eternal City in March 2027 will include:
- a visit to the offices of Magisterium AI (a global Catholic AI-powered search engine)
- an AI and Ethics event with students from the University of Mary (USA) on the implications of Pope Leo XIV’s document on AI,
Magnifica Humanitas
- an opportunity to attend Mass in the Vatican (even if you're not Catholic)
- an opportunity to explore Rome, and enjoy the best ice cream in the world (allegedly)
The cost includes flights, 3 nights bed & breakfast accommodation, & Rome airport transfers

How many places are there?
We have 12 student places available on this trip, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once you have requested your place through the online form and paid your initial (non-returnable) deposit your place on the trip will be secured.
Is this trip open to anyone?
Yes. Whilst this trip may be of particular interest to Computer Science and Philosophy, Ethics and Religion students, all LTU students are eligible to apply for this trip
*Subject to having the required visa and passport documents for travel into Italy.
How much is it?
The full cost of the trip is £675 per person (based on twin room sharing).
We require a non-refundable £200 deposit by Tuesday 1 December, with the remaining amount (£475) payable by Monday 25 January 2027.
Failure to pay the full amount will result in the loss of your deposit.
Price includes:
- Return flights from Manchester to Rome Ciampino
- Airport transfers in Rome
- Travel insurance
- Bed and breakfast accommodation
Not included:
- Lunch and evening meals
- Spending money
- Airport transfers in the UK
How do I pay?
Upon successful completion of the application form you will be required to pay using a credit/debit card on the online store.
You can either:
- Pay the initial deposit first (by 1st December 2026) and then pay the full amount 8 weeks’ later (by 25th January 2027)
- Pay the full amount by 1st December 2026.

Where are we flying from and to?
We are flying from Manchester Airport on Wednesday 17 March 2027 to Rome Ciampino, returning to Manchester Airport from Rome Ciampino on Saturday 20 March 2027.
Is my passport OK for travel?
You must ensure your passport:
* has a date of issue that is less than 10 years before the date I enter the Italy/the EU (so check the ‘date of issue’ on passport)
* has an expiry date at least 3 months after the day I plan to leave the Italy/the EU (so check the ‘date of expiry’)
(For example, if you are entering the EU on 7 December 2026 and returning to the UK on 10 December 2026, your passport must:
* have been issued less than 10 years before 7 December 2026.
* be valid for at least three months after 10 December 2026.)
NB: If your current passport was issued before 1 October 2018, you might have a date of issue that is more than 10 year ago, making it invalid for entry into the Schengen area.
